Drama teachers: whether you’re teaching first or second-year college students, community theatre actors, and directors, or even seniors at a retirement home, this is your go-to solution for having scene work be the foundation of solid actor training again.  Moments: 75 Flexible Scenes for Two or Three Actors is a collection of 60 two-person and 15 three-person ‘neutral’ scenes for adult students of any gender, age, and skill level. These scenes will grow with your students, progressively offering more ‘meat on the bones’ as your class works from shorter to longer pieces. All scenes have been workshopped with actors and are ready to go. As a bonus, included are explanations, exercises, and examples of how to design lesson plans for your acting or directing students, PLUS an appendix with scene suggestions that will get your students up on their feet if they get stuck.

Barbra French (BA, MFA) is a director, playwright and educator who has been teaching and coaching actors in colleges, universities, private schools and community theatres since 1999. She received her undergraduate degree in Theatre from the University of British Columbia and her master’s degree in Directing at the University of Alberta.

She has directed dozens of plays, co-created seven full-length, devised works, and was the founder and Artistic Director of the Etcetera Theatre Collective in Edmonton (2001-2006). Her play MUSE was published in 2019.

Barbra is currently writing a step-by-step companion book to Moments, entitled Mastering the Moment. This new, comprehensive book will help acting teachers and coaches design and teach their courses, and will be released in 2025. Barbra lives on the West Coast with her husband, Greg, and their rescue dog, Tucker.
